Use the same bathroom cues each time you take your dog outside. Always praise him when he goes, and he’ll soon learn what you’re asking him to do.

If you happen to catch him in the act of peeing or pooping, immediately pick up the puppy and take him outside and encourage him to go. It may take a few minutes for him to recover from the interruption and resume going, so be patient. When he does, lavish him with praise. Clean up the accident inside before it has a chance to seep into the rug, padding, or flooring. Use a cleaning product specifically designed to neutralize pet odors. If any scent of urine or feces remains after the stain is cleaned, the dog will identify it as an elimination spot.

TAKE COMFORT

Be patient during the house-training process, as it can be a trying time. Even though your clever Bulldog will quickly learn to ask for outdoor potty breaks, his body can take up to a full year to mature to the point where he no longer has accidents indoors. Assuming you’re doing your part by taking him out at regular intervals and encouraging correct elimination practices, do not be discouraged by occasional slips.
